Enough is enough!

Jakob Chychrun keeps being held out of the Arizona Coyotes’ lineup “until something happens,” no trade appears imminent for the defenseman. While the Coyotes have made the decision to protect their asset in Chychrun, who was injured just weeks before the trade deadline last season, the decision is upsetting some folks out there.

Chris Johnston explained on last night’s Insider Trading on TSN that some teams involved in the process are getting fed up and everyone’s just a little tired of all this right now.

“Especially those that believe they’ve been involved in the trade process, maybe even negotiating if you’re a club general manager in acquiring Chychrun because this saga has been dragging on now for well over a year. I think we can all appreciate [Coyotes GM] Bill Armstrong’s position - he’s trying to utilize every tactic to squeeze everything out of a Chychrun return that he possibly can. But you’re right, it has been a frustrating process for many - some describing it as ‘deal fatigue’ at this point - but given how the Coyotes are dealing with Chyrchun right now, it does feel that this saga is about to end.”

The Los Angeles Kings remain the favourites to land Chychrun at the moment, but they are also looking to include goalie Cal Petersen in a deal and maybe this saga dragging with Chychrun will push them ouf of the sweepstakes. The Ottawa Senators have already drop out of the negotiations to land Chychrun ahead of March 3rd.

The blue liner was first scratched due to “trade-related reasons” on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues. Chychrun is in the fourth year of a six-year, $27.6 million deal he signed in 2018, which carries a cap hit of $4.6 million. The final two years of that contract carry a modified no-trade clause.

This season, he has put up seven goals and 21 assists in 36 games, his seventh with the Coyotes.

His next point should come as part of a lineup of a new team following a trade, unless every club interested in Chychrun gets fed up and looks elsewhere for help on the back end.
