Team Canada: Major change to World Juniors training camp roster.
The Canadian World Juniors team has seen a major change to their roster after an outstanding performance.
It appears as though a young man has convinced Team Canada that they may have made a mistake in overlooking him for their World Juniors training camp roster.
In a surprising bit of news, Hockey Canada announced on Monday morning that forward Beckett Sennecke was being added to their training camp roster. Just this weekend I published a story on how Sennecke was perhaps making Team Canada regret their decision not to include him on their roster after exploding for 14 points in the 3 games that followed him not being named to the team, including an incredible goal against the London Knights this weekend.
Sennecke was selected third overall at this year's National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Anaheim Ducks and currently has 21 goals and 23 assists for a totalof 44 points in his first 26 games of the season for the Ontario Hockey League's Oshawa Generals.
I for one won't be the least bit surprised if he ends up making the team out of camp with the way he has been playing since the initial snub.
Unfortunately the announcement also came with a bit of bad news, especially if you're a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, with Hockey Canada indicating that Maple Leafs top prospect Easton Cowan will not be participating in that very same training camp. Cowan was selected to the training camp roster and will attend the camp, but he will not be participating on the ice for what has been described as "precautionary reasons" with Hockey Canada providing no further details.
That is a tough break for the Maple Leafs prospect but it remains to be seen if it will impact his selection to the actual tournament roster or not.
Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
