Tanner Jeannot signs new deal worth over $5 million.
After giving up a ton of draft picks for him ahead of the deadline, the Lightning have re-signed Tanner Jeannot to a new deal.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have secured the services of their young enforcer for the foreseeable future.
According to an official announcement from the Lightning, the organization has signed forward Tanner Jeannot to a new 2 year deal worth $5.33 million over the full term of the contract. That will work out to an average annual value and salary cap hit of $2.665 million per season.
There was never any question that this deal would get done considering the Lightning gave up a ton of assets to acquire Jeannot ahead of the National Hockey League's March trade deadline. The Lightning gave up defenseman Cal Foote, a conditional first round pick at the 2025 draft, a second round pick in the 2024 draft, and a third, fourth and fifth round pick at the recent 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
That no doubt also gave Jeannot and his agent considerable leverage in these negotiations, knowing full well that the Lightning were intent on keeping him after giving up so much to acquire him from the Nashville Predators.
Jeannot has yet to play a full season for the Lightning and dealt with some injuries following his acquisition, so no doubt the Lightning are looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table over the course of the next two full seasons.
