Is this season the swan song for defenseman T.J. Brodie with the Toronto Maple Leafs?

He's entering what is the final year of his current contract, and so far, the new general manager Brad Treliving has yet to reach out to him regarding a new contract extension.

"There were no discussions about an extension over the off-season," Brodie disclosed.

However, he sounds open to returning after this season - if the team wants him.

"Absolutely, but let's wait and see how things unfold," he said.

Brodie isn't the only Leafs defenseman who is on the verge of having his contract expire next summer. The likes of Mark Giordano, John Klingberg, and Timothy Liljegren are all in the same boat - though Brodie will be a restricted free agent at this season's end.

Brodie was limited to only 58 games last season thanks to injury, scoring two goals with 12. In 830 career NHL games with the Leafs and Calgary Flames, Brodie has scored a total of 55 goals with 267 assists for 322 points. He's also added five goals and 17 assists in 55 career playoff games.
