Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman takes a shot at colleague Kevin Bieksa

Love the banter between these two. The former NHLer will surely want a shot back. Full story:

Sportsnet panelist and former NHL defenseman Kevin Bieksa has been a great addition to the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast, bringing his experience and especially his humour to the panel. He and insider Elliotte Friedman have always have good banter and late on Thursday night, when he published his weekly 32 Thoughts column, Friedman made sure to leave one of his thought for Bieksa as he took a shot at his colleague.

In his article, Friedman reveals how Sportsnet had been in discussions with newly retired defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to get him on the panel for next Friday’s trade deadline. However, since the blue liner accepted a job with the NHL’s Players Association, he cannot cover the deadline. And so Friedman wrote this about next week’s coverage:

“Kevin Shattenkirk was going to join Sportsnet’s trade deadline coverage, but bowed out to accept a role at the NHLPA. Their gain, our loss. Sadly, Bieksa survives another season.”

Both Bieksa and Friedman love working together and you can tell by the way they have fun and take fun shots like this at one another.

You have to wonder now how Bieksa will get back at the insider, perhaps over the weekend during the coverage of Hockey Night in Canada.
