Sidney Crosby stuns fans when asked what he would be if he weren’t an NHL player!
The Penguins’ players had some pretty good answers, but no one expected the captain to answer this:
Sidney Crosby remains the best hockey player despite being grossly underpaid by the Pittsburgh Penguins on his next contract. Earlier this month, the Pens’ captain signed a two-year extension with the Penguins for his usual $8.7M US per season, extending him through the 2026-27 season.
Training camp opened and Crosby has been focused, as usual, on making his team better and ensuring that this time, the Penguins do not miss out on the postseason.
The media team in Pittsburgh has however attempted to keep things light and have often asked some fun questions to the players in the past that they then post on social media to entertain fans. On Wednesday the players coming to and out of practice were asked: What would your career be if you didn’t play hockey?
While some of Crosby’s teammates had interesting answers like farmer, sport psychologist or even magician, others stuck to sports, wondering if instead they would have played golf, soccer or tennis.
However, when asked about what he would have become if he weren’t an NHL player, Crosby answered without hesitation: firefighter.
Fans thought it was surprising that Crosby answered that seeing that about eight years ago, when he was shooting a commercial for Tim Hortons with Colorado Avalanche superstar and close friend Nathan MacKinnon, he had to do some of the drills at the fire station and admitted to being afraid of heights when he was going up a very tall ladder.
In the video, MacKinnon admits to dreaming of becoming a firefighter if he weren’t playing in the NHL, but claims that he’s not sure about that anymore.
But apparently it did not deter Crosby.
Coming off a 42-goal, 94-point campaign that saw him finish tied for 12th in the league scoring race, Crosby has proven to have a whole lot more in the tank, and I say he would make a pretty good fire fighter. Unless the building in flames in very high…
