Sidney Crosby calls out Penguins’ fans in 6-2 setback against Colorado!

The captain was annoyed after the game. See what he had to tell fans down below:

The Pittsburgh Penguins have won five of their past seven games, though last night against the visiting Colorado Avalanche was not one of them. The Pens fell 6-2 and the crowd at the PPG Paints Arena was not happy, especially with the team’s failed power-play attempts.

In the third period, fans in Pittsburgh showered the players with boos, which irritated captain Sidney Crosby. After the loss, he met with reporters and appeared to call out the fanbase, who seemed to have forgotten how the Penguins have racked up some wins lately.

“You wouldn’t know it tonight,” Crosby said, per Josh Yohe of the Athletic’. “Would you? I mean, getting booed on the power play (in the third period.)”

Crosby added how surprised he was at fans’ reaction though he did acknowledge it wasn’t a good night for the power play.

“It did a little bit,” Crosby said. “I think there’s been some times this season when we deserved it. I don’t think tonight was one of them.”

As Yohe points out, it is not commun for Crosby to be annoyed with fans. The captain has however been struggling lately, only notching two goals in his past 16 games, and his frustration could have also stemmed from that. Yohe writes:

“It’s not characteristic of Crosby to be irked by the crowd. But then again, these are strange times for Crosby and the Penguins, who aren’t used to playing before empty seats — there were 2,500 unsold tickets for this one and probably 2,000 more no-shows — and who aren’t used to struggling to this extent.

"Crosby has never really heard boos from Pittsburgh fans and, though they weren’t directed at him — that would never happen — he is sensitive to it and is a believer positivity is the best kind of support a crowd can display.

"He notices everything. The great ones always do.”

Crosby needs to forget about the boos and focused on his game. Next up, the Penguins face the Canadiens in Montreal later tonight and a win would probably make him forget about the bad performance against Colorado.
