Just two games into the 2023-24 season, the Chicago Blackhawks lost forward Taylor Hall to an upper-body injury, which head coach Luke Richardson would put the veteran out of action for weeks.
On Wednesday, Hall took a hit from Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo early in the second period near centre ice. The blue liner was not penalized on the play, but Hall was slow to get up and went to the dressing room. The new Hawks forward did return for one shift later in the frame, but Chicago’s training staff shut him down for the remainder of the game afterward.
Despite Richardson announcing after that contest that Hall was out week-to-week, the forward joined his teammates on the ice for practice on Friday, ahead of the Blackhawks’ matchup against the Canadiens in Montreal on Saturday.
Hall then stuck around to work on some stick handling on his own, which is quite the update from what the head coach first reported on Wednesday night.
While it could be great news for Hall, some experts are worrried that he could have suffered a concussion and could therefore feel the symptoms later on, or once he gets hit again on the ice.
We will keep a close eye on this.
UPDATE: Later on Friday, Richardson explained that Hall might be more day to day than he is week to week. He won’t play tomorrow, but could be back sooner than anticipated.
