Latest trade scenario emerges and it stuns fans!

In the past few days, concern emerged in Toronto as reports hinted at the fact that Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is reportedly looking for a new contract north of $10M. If the Leafs intend to re-sign Auston Matthews, and next Mitch Marner, to lucrative deals, Toronto can’t afford Nylander at that salary.
That’s when the trade rumours got louder with the Calgary Flames being mentioned as a possible landing spot for Nylander.
“Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin has stated he has no intention of signing a long-term deal in Calgary and it makes sense for him to come back in a trade for Nylander.
“The NHL rumor that has gained the most traction is Hanifin and Mikael Backlund at 50% retained for Nylander.”
To add to the chatter, it was reported that a private plane from Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment was seen in Calgary this week, leading to speculation that Treliving could be looking to do some business with his old club.
With Nylander allegedly not willing to back down from his $10 million/year demand at the moment, more and more trade speculations will surface.
What’s so stunning about a potential move to Calgary is that many players are looking to leave the Flames and how would that convince Nylander to come over… Before free agency opened, reports emerged that many top players wanted out of Calgary, including Hanifin, Elias Lindholm, Mikael Backlund and Tyler Toffoli. The latter is now out as he was traded to the New Jersey Devils last month. Let’s also not forget how Johnny Gaudreau left Calgary and hit free agency last summer to sign with the Columbus Blue Jackets and the blockbuster trade that sent Matthew Tkachuk to Florida.
Nylander has a 10-team modified no-trade clause that kicks in on July 1 for the final year of his current contract, which has a salary cap hit just shy of $7 million.
Calgary might be on it…
