The Carolina Hurricanes are without the services of their star forward Sebastian Aho, and things are getting complicated for the upcoming games on their calendar.

After Sunday’s game against the Canucks in Vancouver, the Canes got back on the plane on their way home to Raleigh, but were forced to go without three members of the team.

The Hurricanes announced late last night that Aho, along with rookie forward Seth Jarvis and a team staff member all testes positive for COVID-19. It was therefore impossible to for them to go through customs and return to Carolina.

This means that they will have to be in quarantine of ten days in Vancouver before being able to join the rest of the team back in the United States.

Ironically, the Hurricanes were already deprived of the services of their star defenseman Tony DeAngelo who was unable to enter Canada at the start of the club’s road trip when he tested positive to COVID-19.

On Monday, the NHL postponed the Calgary Flames’ next three games after six players and a staff member entered the league’s COVID-19 protocol over a 24-hour period.

The Flames announced Monday morning that forwards Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, Brad Richardson and Adam Ruzicka and defencemen Chris Tanev and Nikita Zadorov were in the protocol.

Postponed games include Monday night’s game at Chicago, Tuesday’s game at Nashville and Thursday’s home game against Toronto.

While the Canes are most likely distraught to be without Aho who is stuck in Canada for the time being, this will avoid concern with continued spread and the likelihood of additional positive cases.
