The whole saga lasted two days… In case you missed it, former NHL pest Sean Avery officially signed a contract with the ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears as part of his effort to make an NHL comeback. He hasn’t played a professional hockey game since he retired back in 2012, but he’s evidently serious about getting back out there and making a name for himself once again. However, on Friday, the Solar Bears released Avery, just two days after signing him to a deal. The former NHLer later revealed in a now-deleted Instagram story that he chose to return to California because he missed his son too much.

While he was a member of the Solar Bears, two former NHL enforcers looked to sign in the ECHL as well, only to be able to beat up Avery. When chatter started getting out that Avery could sign in the ECHL, former NHLer Matthew Barnaby dare to state on Twitter that if Avery signed with the Solar Bears, he would have to sign a deal within the same division. When the Solar Bears signed Avery, they called out Barnaby for his next move, and the former NHL enforcer answered with a picture of his shoulder pads out of storage!

Later, it was Georges Laraque who was begging an ECHL team to sign him just for one day in order to beat up Avery on the ice. It even prompted the Solar Bears’ ultimate rivals, the Florida Everblades, to send Laraque an offer, wondering if he was free to take part in the game against Orlando on March, 12th.

But as we said above, the deal is over and Avery isn’t in the ECHL anymore. On Monday night, he answered some questions online and took the opportunity to give his opinion on Barnaby and Laraque’s desire to return to the ice.

While Avery says that everyone has the right to do what they want, he calls both former enforcers “largely obese” and says they would need to lose 60 pounds each and improve their cardio in order to make a comeback. Check out how he just brutally insults Barnaby and Laraque:

No holding back there, Avery! 60 pounds sounds like a little much! And Barbany has already touched on the question of his size, posting a picture of him looking pretty good to get back on the ice.

I’d be careful if I were Avery…
