Scott Darling's new contract details revealed!

Scott Darling left Chicago in a wake of sadness, as many fans expected him to remain in the organization for a long time. As a backup goalie, Darling did an excellent job this year and many thought he should have stayed with the Hawks. 

However, as he was set to become UFA this summer, Hawk's GM Stan Bowman decided to trade the negotiation rights to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2017. As Darling was pretty clear about his intention to go after a starting goalie position and the Hawks picked Corey Crawford as their man, something had to give. 

The negotiations with the Hurricanes went well for Darling and he inked a 4 years, 16.6 millions deal today. 

It's still unclear whether Darling will inherit the starting position for the Canes, as the organization already count on Cam Ward and Eddy Lack for their goalie roster. It will be interesting to see how things will play out, especially with the expansion draft fast approaching!
