Talk about a scary scene tonight at Capital One Arena that took the air out of the festive atmosphere that came from Alex Ovechkin tying Gordie Howe with his 801st career goal.
Defenseman John Carlson suffered a frightening injury after the was struck in the face by a slap shot from Winnipeg’s Branden Dillon. Carlson immediately dropped to the ice, bleeding profusely:
