Sam Gagner reveals his next career move
He's a veteran of over 1,000 career NHL games.
It doesn't look like veteran forward Sam Gagner is ready to call it curtains on his National Hockey League career just yet.
According to Kurt Leavins of The Edmonton Journal, Gagner has been skating at his annual Muskoka Hockey Camp and is hoping to play an 18th NHL season, writing the following:
"Oilers fan favorite Sam Gagner turned thirty-five on Saturday. Gagner still hopes to play in 2024-25 and has been skating at his annual Muskoka Hockey camp. There have also been rumblings of Gagner staying with the Oilers in a player development capacity. But I have no confirmation of that."
Originally selected 6th overall by the Oilers in the 2007 NHL Draft, Gagner has racked up 529 points during his NHL career that have included three separate stints with Edmonton along with tenures playing with the Arizona Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings and Winnipeg Jets.
He played in 28 games with the Oilers last season, scoring five goals with five assists while adding another three goals and six assists in 15 games with the American Hockey League affiliate Bakersfield Condors.
