Not only did Ryan Reaves scored his first goal as a member of the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night, he tallied his first of the 2022-23 season. And it was a beauty. The enforcer backhanded a puck out of midair and into the back of the net past New York Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin.

Reaves tied the game at 1, which was then pushed into a shootout. The Wild came out on top with the 2-1 win over New York.

A lot of mockery came to Reaves this season after he asked for a trade out of New York with the Rangers sending him to Minnesota. It was believed that the change of scenery would push Reaves to produce, but he remained goalless.

Earlier this week, when Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark scored in an empty-netter, jokes emerged that the netminder had more goals than Reaves… which was a fact. Until last night.

When asked about finally scoring his first goal in 2022-23 by Joe Smith, Reaves told a hilarious story on kids calling him out and what his response to them is after his goal:

“I went to my kids hockey game yesterday and a bunch of other kids were there watching and they were just giving it to me saying they had more goals than me. So wherever you are, eat that.”

You have to love Reaves’ reaction and this story!
