Rumor: Torey Krug has blocked a major trade.
The St. Louis Blues defenseman has put a stop to what was expected to be a huge trade on Sunday.
The National Hockey League might still be the site of some significant trades on Sunday, but they won't be as big as they could have been.
Over the course of the last 24 hours we have been hearing a ton about a rumored trade between the Philadelphia Flyers and the St. Louis Blues. Everyone seems to agree that one of the central components of this trade will be Flyers forward Kevin Hayes, but there have been several other names linked to this deal including that of Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim, Blues defenseman Torey Krug and even Blues defenseman Justin Faulk.
The two sides appeared to be getting close to a major deal last night with reports indicating that the two sides were finalizing the deal, but it now appears as though one of the players involved has thrown a wrench into the mix.
According to NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the aforementioned Torey Krug has refused to waive his no-trade clause and as a result can not be included as a part of this deal.
An update from LeBrun's colleague, NHL insider Darren Dreger has all but confirmed that this deal is now likely dead.
There is a belief that Kevin Hayes may still be moved to the Blues in some type of trade deal, but it will look much different than the potential multi-player trade that has been rumored over the last little while.
