Rick Tocchet sends a special message to Jaromir Jagr.
The head coach of the Vancouver Canucks has an emotional message for Jaromir Jagr.
On Sunday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins will finally retire the jersey that was worn by National Hockey League legend Jaromir Jagr during his many years as a Penguin, a celebration that many fans feel is long overdue.
Jagr will unquestionably go down as one of the greatest players in the history of the Penguins franchise, and during his time in the Penguins organization he impacted the lives of many people around him. That's why the Penguins made the decision to bring in several of Jagr's former teammates for the special occasion, many of whom were asked to share their thoughts on the legendary forward.
Among those former teammates is none other than current Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet, and Tocchet had a great deal to say about Jagr when the question was posed to him. Tocchet spoke glowingly of his former teammate and even largely credited Jagr for helping him become a champion.
"What I would like to say to him is how lucky I am to play with him, obviously he helped me get a Cup," said Tocchet of Jagr.
"I'd like to thank him for getting me a ring because he was a big part of us getting a ring and solidifying our team - and being the young guy that drove the older guys with a passion," admitted Tocchet.
Very kind words from the Canucks head coach, and you can hear them in the short clip below.
