Reports of a multi-player trade between Tampa and Seattle today!
The trigger could be pulled soon with less than two days to go till the deadline! Full trade details down below:
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Seattle Kraken are working on a deal potentially involving Oliver Bjorkstrand and Yanni Gourde.
“Remember: Lightning have Cam Atkinson and newly-signed (to an NHL deal) Logan Brown on waivers today. May affect how things proceed,” adds Friedman.
The Kraken has multiple players in play ahead of Friday’s deadline, and it is not the first time we hear that Bjorkstrand and Gourde could be on the move.
According to PuckPedia.com, Gourde has a $5.167 million cap hit and a 23-team no-trade list. He just returned to action this week after missing 22 games after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia.
As for Bjorkstrand, who has one more year left at $5.4 million, he holds trade protection and a 10-team no trade list, but could agree to waive it to join a contender like the Bolts.
Gourde has also been linked to the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs in recent months. Things could be heating up now with just 48 hours to go until the trade deadline. He would be a great addition to any roster as a two-time Stanley Cup champion.
Who knows he could be back in Tampa where he hoisted the Cup in back to back years in 2020 and 2021.
