According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Edmonton Oilers GM Ken Holland is working the phones in an attempt to acquire another goaltender for his team.

On today's episode of The Jeff Marek Show, Friedman reported that Holland made an offer to the Philadelphia Flyers for veteran goalie Martin Jones, but that the Flyers balked at Holland's offer.

Interestingly enough, Friedman also reported that Holland has not put in an offer on Columbus Blue Jackets, citing too high of an asking price.

Check it out:

"I think he offered like a 5th RD pick to Philly for Martin Jones, Philly wasn't doing that. I think that Korpisalo, I think that they were being asked for a couple of higher round picks, not a 1st, something Edmonton didn't want to do."

Now, for those of you out there wondering why Holland would be interested in Jones after a few awful seasons with the San Jose Sharks, keep in mind that Jones has significantly improved his play this season with the Flyers. Yes, the Flyers are awful... but Jones isn't to blame. The fact of the matter is that he's been a stellar netminder for the team this season and has done a good job of pushing youngster Carter Hart. Honestly, I could see him being a good pick up for the Oilers.

Thoughts, Oilers fans?
