Report: Kraken already eying big-time replacement for Dave Hakstol
The Kraken are said to be going fishing for a major catch!
The Seattle Kraken have opted to dismiss head coach Dave Hakstol following their failure to secure a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs during the 2023-24 regular season. While Hakstol steered the team to notable achievements last season, nearly clinching a spot in the Western Conference Final, the Kraken struggled to replicate that success this year.
Next year will feature the 2nd coach in franchise history, and according to a recently released report, they have their eyes on one notable figure who is set to hit the open market this summer. Could Kraken GM Ron Francis attempt to lure his former teammate in Rod Brind'Amour to Seattle?
Meanwhile, Kevin Weeks, a former teammate of Brind'Amour, tantalized fans with a report hinting that an undisclosed coach might surpass the record-breaking deal signed by Mike Babcock in 2015. Babcock's contract at the time elevated him to the status of the highest-paid coach in NHL history.
He wrote:
"There could be 1 current @NHL Head Coach that might potentially hit or surpass Mike Babcock’s industry leading 7M per Yr deal he signed with the @MapleLeafs . 🤐 👀. It would take plenty of factors for it to align , but plots are thickening."
