Fans of the Detroit Red Wings may cringe when they look back at some absolute dud draft selections made by former general manager Ken Holland and scouting director Tyler Wright, which included monumental busts like Dennis Cholowski, Filip Zadina, and Evgeny Svechnikov.
However, under the tutelage of franchise icon Steve Yzerman, the Red Wings have managed to re-stock the prospect cupboard that was decimated by Holland in the later years of his tenure. The likes of Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond have already established themselves as franchise cornerstones, while Simon Edvinsson is poised to become a full-time NHL player in the upcoming season.
Additionally, players like Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Marco Kasper, Nate Danielson, Carter Mazur, Sebastian Cossa and several others are waiting in the Wings to become the next wave of talent on Detroit's roster.
The Red Wings have since taken 1st place in NHL prospect pool rankings via McKeen's Hockey:
