It is a rare case of a trade taking place a week after this year’s Trade Deadline Day. But on Friday, the Winnipeg Jets announced they have traded forward Wyatt Bongiovanni to the Ottawa Senators in exchange for future considerations.
This is technically an AHL trade / loan as today’s reportedly the deadline for a player on an AHL roster is eligible to be traded or loaned within the league.
Bongiovanni has yet to play in the NHL ever since he signed an entry-level contract of two years right out of college as an undrafted player in April, 2022.
Since, the 24 year old forward has been playing in the American Hockey League, for the Manitoba Moose. This season, he has tallied eight goals and added seven assists for 15 points in 34 games.
The move has stunned a few fans, especially ones of the Moose, since Bongiovanni had been a good fit in Manitoba.
Let’s see what happens next with the prospect as he heads to Ottawa.
