After losing Game 4, it feels like the New York Rangers have lost control of the Eastern Conference Final. Following a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena on Tuesday, the Rangers are facing their second straight defeat after winning Games 1 and 2 at home.
They did try… With the Bolts leading 3-0 in the third period, Artemi Panarin attempted a comeback by scoring the Rangers’ lone goal of the contest.
However, Rangers owner James Dolan, Glen Sather, Henrik Lundqvist had already left the building, per Michael Russo of The Athletic.
According to Russo, Dolan, Sather, Lundqvist and a large entourage left early to beat traffic.
The reporter adds that they therefore missed Panarin’s goal. Maybe they wanted to move on quickly to focus on Game 5, which takes place on Thursday at Madison Square Garden, where New York has won eight straight.
It kinda makes me feel better that I also sometimes leave the arena before the final buzzer to beat traffic. However, these guys should support their players, especially when the lone goal-scorer admitted after the loss:
“Have to figure out something,” Panarin said. “We have to probably build everything better.”
