Rangers captain Jacob Trouba facing suspension for elbowing.

The New York Rangers captain has caught the eye of the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has made a surprise announcement.

On Saturday morning, the disciplinary arm of the NHL officially announced that New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba would have a hearing on Saturday for an elbow he delivered to the Las Vegas Golden Knights' Pavel Dorofeyev.

The incident in question did not draw any attention at all during the course of the game itself, with Trouba not receiving even so much as a minor penalty on the play, but it would appear as though the NHL has gone back and reviewed the footage after being made aware of an infraction on the part of the Rangers captain.

Trouba of course has a reputation for playing hard and on the edge of the NHL's rules, and it would seem that this time he may have overstepped.
