Vancouver Canucks captain and star defenseman Quinn Hughes took part in a fun interview with Jonny Lazarus while swatting together on the ice on Wednesday and he answered a bunch of entertaining questions on his experience in the NHL, but also, on his personal life.

After talking about different Canadian fanbases and NHL jerseys, the last question came with a twist as Lazarus asked Hughes if he could go on one date with his celebrity crush, who would it be.

Fans were on the verge of finding out who the Canucks’ captain would like to date, but instead, Hughes surprised his host when he revealed he did not want to speak about that, fearing that fans and folks on social media would attempt to match-make him with his celebrity crush.

Watch how he managed to get away with that one in the video below, post on X:

You can tell as soon as Lazarus asks the question, Hughes has someone specific in mind. His smile tells it all, though he probably made the right call to keep this information private.

Remember what happened in December 2019 when Anthony Beauvillier had mentioned his interest in actress Anna Kendrick on social media? The hockey player had taken his shot on Christmas, asking Kendrick out, and basically all of hockey Twitter got behind him in support.

After days of radio silence, Kendrick had finally chimed in, tweeting that the replies have “been my entertainment for the last two days.

I’m guessing Hughes wanted to avoid all of that.

When it comes to hockey news related to the Canucks’ captain, he imade a return to action against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night.

The defenseman had missed six games because of an undisclosed injury, which also caused him to miss the 4 Nations Face-Off after he was selected to play for the United States.

He recorded an assist in his Canucks’ 3-2 overtime win in LA, but went pointless in last night bad 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
