Potential 2025 NHL Draft first overall pick Michael Misa suspended by OHL for outrageous reason!

After getting exceptional status and breaking Connor McDavid’s record, Misa now trends for a whole different reason…

For a few seasons now, winger Michael Misa has been making a case to become the No. 1 selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. The 17-year-old forward is in his third season with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit, and so far this season, has posted 25 goals and 49 points in 49 games.

Misa recently spoke on the “NHL Draft Class” podcast about the possibility of becoming the first overall selection this summer, and his high expectations as an A-rated skater on NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary players to watch list.

“I’m really coachable and that’s something all coaches are looking for,” Misa said when asked what he would tell an NHL GM looking to select him with the No. 1 selection. “I hate losing more than I like winning. That’s something I’ll bring to the table every night.”

However on Wednesday, NHL teams and reporters are talking about Misa for a whole different reason. The OHL has announced that Misa has been suspended “for one game as a result of actions (Game Misc., Shooting Objects out of Playing Surface) on Dec. 1 at Sarnia.”

Insider Jeff Marek provided some insight and additional details on what took place, only to reveal that Misa “shot a teddy bear back in the crowd at a teddy bear toss game.”

Not only is the reason for the suspension ridiculous, but we are talking about a star player with great potential. Misa was granted exceptional player status himself in 2022 and was selected No. 1 by Saginaw in the OHL Draft. That was after he broke Connor McDavid’s scoring record at the OHL Cup, which features the top OHL prospects in the Minor U18 ranks. Misa recorded 20 points in seven games.

Misa will probably pick up where he left off once he returns from his suspension, but you have to admit this one will be a ridiculous mark on his resume.
