Pierre-Olivier Joseph on the move again, separated from brother in St. Louis!

TRADE ALERT! On the move again for Joseph:

Chris Gosselin

According to Elliotte Friedman, the St. Louis Blues are trading defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph back to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Blues insider Andy Strickland confirmed Friedman's report, adding that Joseph was meeting the Penguins in Nashville. Strickland does not believe the return is huge for the Blues in this transaction.

Moments later, the Blues made the official announcement : Joseph is going back to the Penguins in return for future considerations.

This is a return in Pittsburgh for Joseph, who is a former first-round pick in the 2017 draft. He played for the Penguins in 2022-23 and last season, before the team did not tender him an offer. He became a free agent and signed a one-year deal with the Blues, joining his older brother Mathieu in St. Louis.

He is therefore signed through the end of the 2024-25 season and his contract carries an average annual value of $950,000. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.

He has played in 23 games for St. Louis this season, tallying two assists. In 170 career NHL games, the defenseman has recorded eight goals, 31 assists and 39 points.
