Xhekaj and Rempe go to war on Sunday night.
An epic showdown between Arber Xhekaj and Matt Rempe on Sunday night in the NHL.
The fans who tuned in to Sunday night's game between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers hoping to see a collision between Habs enforcer Arber Xhekaj and Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe will not be leaving disappointed.
In the early moments of the game's second period, Rempe and Xhekaj would have a brief exchange in front of the net before Rempe would start to rain blows down on Xhekaj's head. In spite of the fact that it looked as though Xhekaj had initially provoked the confrontation he seemed caught off guard by Rempe's aggression, with both hands on his stick and his gloves on as Rempe began to throw bombs his way.
That being said it wasn't long before Xhekaj's gloves would come off and he began to deliver some offense of his own as both men went back and forth throwing some heavy shots that had bad intentions behind them.
Both men would land some solid looking shots but everytime it looked like one man would take over the other quickly returned fire with neither willing to back down. This would go on for nearly a full minute before the two men would crash to the ice, with Xhekaj taking Rempe down and putting an end to the exchange of blows.
A great fight between two very tough competitors with the clear winner of this one undoubtedly the fans who got to watch it live.
