Not what they needed.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are in a considerable funk right now, having dropped four in a row, including an emasculating loss at home to the Detroit Red Wings in which they initially enjoyed a 4-0 1st period lead.

They're playing at historic Fenway Park this afternoon in the 2023 NHL Winter Classic against the Boston Bruins, and they're already without the services of defenseman Kris Letang. Not only is he suffering from a lower body injury, but also experienced a personal tragedy with the passing of his father; he's returned home to Quebec to be with his family.

But now, the Penguins are now without another valuable member of their team in goaltender Tristan Jarry. The Pens net minder clearly injured himself over the course of the 1st period against Boston, and was replaced by Casey DeSmith:

Prior to leaving the game, Jarry stopped all eight shots from the Bruins that he faced. He's posted positive numbers this season for the Penguins, registering a 15-5-4 record with a 2.78 goals against average and .917 save percentage.
