Penguins and Predators hook on a trade in the hopes that both sides can jump start their seasons
Seriously... what is Kyle Dubas doing in Pittsburgh?
This just in, the Nashville Predators have traded forward Philip Tomasino to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 4th round pick.
Check it out:
This is the Predators' first big trade since GM Barry Trotz threatened to start offloading talent to expedite a rebuild. It remains to be seen what happens from here on out, but it's clear that Trotz wasn't just blowing smoke earlier this month. Personally though, I don't think the Predators' rebuild is on until they trade a player on a long-term contract. Once they ship out someone like Filip Forsberg, Juuse Saros or Roman Josi then I think we can officially say the rebuild is on.
Also... what's the deal with the Penguins?
They traded veteran Lars Eller earlier this month and there have been rumors that Sidney Crosby could even be on the trade market? Again, what's the deal? What's GM Kyle Dubas planning for the rest of the season? Is it rebuild time in Pittsburgh or load up time? I guess none of it really matters until they resolve their goaltending situation, but in the meantime this team is sliding further and further down the standings.
