Latest update on JT Miller from insider pulls at heartstrings
Miller has been away from the Canucks on an indefinite leave of absence and ugly rumours have taken over. But there are not helping.
Earlier this week, the Vancouver Canucks announced that veteran forward J.T. Miller will be away from the team on an indefinite leave of absence due to personal reasons. The team did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding Miller’s absence, though the Canucks made clear that he has their full support.
“Right now, our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him,” general manager Patrik Allvin said in a statement. “Out of respect for J.T., we will have no further comment at this time.”
Then of course came the ugly rumours that Miller’s wife had been having an extramarital affair and was the reason why the forward needed time off the ice only because Natalie Miller deleted his personal Instagram account, probably to get some privacy.
On Thursday, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wanted to share what he knew and felt about Miller’s absence, pulling at fans’ heartstrings because it is something that can happen to anybody.
“Wishing JT Miller the best; don’t expect to see him until the Canucks return from a six-game road trip ending Dec. 3 at the earliest. It appears as if this is as much about “burnout” as anything else for one of the NHL’s most fiery players.”
If Miller is dealing with mental health issues and needs to rest due to a burnout, this is definitely something that everyone can understand.
Earlier in 2024, SHRM’s Employee Mental Health in 2024 Research Series released for Mental Health Awareness Month found that 44 percent of 1,405 surveyed U.S. employees feel burned out at work, 45 percent feel “emotionally drained” from their work, and 51 percent feel “used up” at the end of the workday.
And yes, hockey players are humans too and Miller needs the time off. Let’s give him the space, the time and the privacy he needs to recover and come back better than ever.
