Patrik Laine demoted ahead of Finland's clash against Sweden.
Two members of the Montreal Canadiens received noticeable demotions from Finland's lineup on Saturday.
It's a tough day for the Finnish members of the Montreal Canadiens roster.
There will be a pair of huge games in the Four Nations Face-Off on Saturday, the first of which will be a clash between Finland and Sweden with both countries needing a win if they want to have a hope of winning this tournament. The pressure will be on for both squads and perhaps as a result of that pressure we have seen significant changes to Finland's lineup.
The biggest change will be the addition of Seattle Kraken forward Kaapo Kakko to the lineup, with Kakko replacing Canadiens forward Joel Armia who will be forced to watch this game from the sidelines. Kakko has had an excellent season since being traded to the Kraken, picking up 5 goals and 12 assists for a total of 17 points in his first 24 games on a new team.
Armia won't be the only member of the Montreal Canadiens having a bad day however with Canadiens star forward Patrik Laine seemingly also getting on the wrong side of Finnish head coach Antti Pennanen. Laine has been bumped out of Finland's top six for today's game with Dallas Stars forward Mikael Granlund taking his spot on the second line. As a result Granlund will get to play alongside Sebastian Aho and Roope Hintz while Laine will have to adjust to new linemates Eetu Luostarinen and Anton Lundell.
It is clear that the pair of Canadiens forwards have not impressed the Finnish coaching staff and management for one reason or another thus far into the tournament and only time will tell if either man gets the chance to redeem himself before this tournament has reached its conclusion.
Here is a look at Finland's forward lines following the changes:
Artturi Lehkonen-Aleksander Barkov-Mikko Rantanen
Roope Hintz-Sebastian Aho-Mikael Granlund
Eetu Luostarinen-Anton Lundell-Patrik Laine
Teuvo Teravainen-Erik Haula-Kaapo Kakko
