Patrick Roy ejected after heated argument with referee.

Legendary National Hockey League goaltender Patrick Roy is up to his old antics again, although it seems he may be getting a little wiser with age.

According to a report from Thomas Williams of Yahoo Sports, Roy was ejected from a preseason game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League after he got into a heated argument with an on ice official. While that may sound like completely ridiculously behavior on the part of an experienced veteran like Roy, and it is, there is some additional important context to this story.

Roy and the referee in question had previously butted heads during the QMJHL playoffs earlier this year, with Roy disagreeing with several of the calls made against his team. To make matters even worse those calls had been made when Roy's team faced off against the very same opponent that they were facing when the incident occurred on Saturday night, the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The former NHL superstar commented on the fact that he felt it was a poor decision on the part of the league.

"As I told my players, I don't feel I'm getting the same treatment as other coaches around the league,” Roy said as per Yahoo Sports. “That's why I try to do as little talking as possible during games. I thought it was funny that the league put us against Shawinigan in an exhibition game. They were tactless."

Fans of the NHL will be no strangers to Roy's blowups as both a player and as a head coach. Roy often let his temper get the better of him as a player, much to the delight of fans, including in this clash with former Detroit Red Wings goaltender Chris Osgood.

Things as a head coach weren't much different. Many fans will remember this legendary blow up between Patrick Roy, Corey Perry, and Bruce Boudreau.

In what is a good sign from the head coach of the Quebec Remparts however, Roy admits that he may have to do some self-reflecting after this incident even if only for the good of his team. Roy believes that, despite the incident on Saturday night, he's already made significant improvements and seems committed to making this latest blow up a learning experience.

"In my good years, the stick rack would have been flying back. Today I'm trying to stay calmer. I'll have to get over it. Maybe it will have done some good, what happened tonight."
