National Hockey League star and pending free agent Patrick Kane has reportedly made his choice.

It sounds like Patrick Kane, a player expected to be one of the hottest free agents this summer, has already made up his mind about the next stage of his career.

Although nothing is official just yet, National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that there is "growing momentum" on a new deal between Kane and his current team, the Detroit Red Wings. No details of the deal have been leaked as of this writing.

It makes a ton of sense that the Red Wings and their general manager, NHL legend Steve Yzerman, would want to keep Kane in the fold after the positive impact he had on their team last season. Despite recovering from major surgery, Kane produced 20 goals and 27 assists for the Red Wings last season totalling 47 points in just 50 regular season games.

Kane was also responsible for some of the most memorable moments of the season for the Red Wings, including his thrilling overtime winner in his return to Chicago.

As I stated nothing is official just yet, but it sounds like it will be Showtime once again in Detroit come next season.

Update: NHL insider Pierre LeBrun reports that it will be a one year deal.
