Vancouver Canucks rookie Jonathan Lekkerimäki was taking part in his second NHL career on Thursday night, against the visiting New York Islanders, and didn’t want to wait any longer to record his first goal in the big leagues.

He probably also want to make it happen with his parents in attendance and he scored his first NHL goal with a rocket one-timer. The tally was not only exciting to see for Lekkerimäki’s future in the organization, but it was also very impressive seeing that his shot was measured at 93.38 miles-per-hour!

However the best part of that first NHL goal was seeing the reactions of his parents, Ellinor and Peter, who were at Rogers Arena and got to witness the moment in person.

The camera found the couple directly after the milestone goal and it’s easy to see how proud and emotional they were.

They then waved at the camera, wanting to make sure their son knew they had seen his accomplishment.

It was a heart-warming scene to see the player’s parents soak in a memory like this and that’s why the video is still trending today.

The look of their faces say it all. To many more Jonathan Lekkerimäki goals!
