P.K. Subban is on the move again and the change of scenery could happen in less than two weeks.

According to Pierre LeBrun, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald has informed Subban that the team will not look to re-sign him beyond this season. The veteran forward is currently playing out the final year of an eight-year, $72 million contract originally signed with the Montreal Canadiens in 2014.

“I sat down with P.K. yesterday and we talked about uncertainty and the deadline, and that we’re not at a spot where we’re looking to extend him at this point.”

While the Devils will love to move him ahead of the trade deadline on March, 21st, we’re not sure Subban and his exorbitant $9 million salary, even if retained by half, will draw a lot of interest.

Sure, Subban is a former Norris Trophy winner and three-time nominee, but has not put up those kinds of numbers for many seasons now. This year, he has posted three goals and 15 assists in 53 games with the Devils.

A move could be more likely to take place in the summer. But as of now, Subban knows he’s not wanted in Jersey anymore.
