P.K. Subban throws major shade at Brad Marchand

The Boston Bruins are seeking to reverse their fortunes from the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Florida Panthers. Down three games to one, they're aiming to stage a comeback and push for a decisive seventh game. Their efforts received a boost with a 2-1 victory in last night's Game 5 at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, setting the stage for Game 6 in Boston.

However, they have bene without the services of captain Brad Marchand since midway through Game 3 when he took a controversial hit from Florida's Sam Bennett that went unpunished and unaddressed by the NHL Department of Player Safety.

Marchand has been unable to play the last two games, and right now, his status for tomorrow night's Game 6 has yet to be determined. But in the words of former NHL defenseman and current analyst P.K. Subban, what befell Marchand is just "part of the game".

"Brad Marchand, as long as I've been in the League and as long as I've been in hockey, I won a gold medal with him at 18, playing in the World Juniors, I've known him," he said. "I've seen him get over on hundreds, maybe thousands of guys. Shift in and shift out. This was one moment where he was the hydrant, not the dog. This was a moment where he was the bug who got the windshield. So I think for Brad Marchand, probably a long time coming for him. It's unfortunate he got knocked out of the series, but that's a part of the game. It's a part of hockey and these things are going to happen."

And understandably, this didn't exactly sit well with Bruins fans.
