P.K. Subban has bad news for Oilers fans

For the first time since 2006, the Edmonton Oilers have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final, meaning they'll have a chance to not only capture the franchise's first championship since 1990, but the first Cup win by a Canadian-based team since the Montreal Canadiens last accomplished the feat in 1993. 

And while the Oilers boast the deadly offensive firepower of Connor McDvid, Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman, the Panthers are known for their frustratingly stingy defensive play that gave their postseason opponents fits. Additionally, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is a man on a mission, having recaptured the reputation as one of the League's best at his position. 

According to former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban, the upcoming goaltending matchup between Florida's Bobrovsky and Stuart Skinner of the Oilers has a clear leader. 

"Edmonton can win this series, but it’s going to take Stuart Skinner to be better than Sergei Bobrovsky, which I don’t believe is going to happen,” Subban said.

"Sergei Bobrovsky has been unbelievable, and I believe that he’ll be the best player in this Final when it’s all said and done," he continued. "To ͏me the most important thing is the ͏goaltending duel. Sergei Bobrovsk͏y has to be ͏Florida’s best͏ player, and I think that he will be.”

Meanwhile, Bobrovsky has etched himself into the Conn Smythe Trophy discussion with a pristine 2.20 goals against average. 

The Stanley Cup Final between the Oilers and Panthers will begin Saturday night from Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise. Which team will gain the early advantage?
