One Canadian team is aggressively looking to acquire Carter Hart!
A move back to Canada in the cards for the young goalie?

While the Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to Philadelphia Flyers netminder Carter Hart even since he landed in trade circles, there seems that another Canadian team is getting more aggressively in attempting to acquire the goalie.
After acquiring goaltender Cal Peterson from the Los Angeles Kings as part of their significant return in a three-team trade, talks have emerged out of Philadelphia that the Flyers are engaged in discussions around Hart, listening to propositions from around the league. The Flyers appear to be ready to part ways with Hart is scheduled for restricted free agency next summer. The 24-year-old goaltender is going into the last of a three-year, $11.937 million deal and has a cap hit of $3.979 million for the 2023-24 season.
A reporter from Philly Jamey Baskow believes that the Edmonton Oilers are been in trade talks for Hart and appear more willing than other clubs to pull the trigger on a monster trade to improve their situation in between the pipes.
The Oilers were looking to go all the way this season, only falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round of the postseason. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have made it clear the time is now to get their hands on the Stanley Cup and trades or top free agency additions will need to take place this summer to make Edmonton a top contender.
Jack Campbell had a disastrous first season with the Oilers on a huge contract and Stuart Skinner wound up picking up more of the slack than expected. The rookie posted a .913 save percentage in 50 games but had a tough time keeping up during his first go-around in the NHL playoffs and the Oilers ultimately weren’t comfortable shifting to Campbell as the starting goalie because of his performance during the regular season, recording an .888 save percentage in 36 games.
A solution in between the pipes could be one element that will be fixed this offseason, and it makes sense that the Oilers are interested in Hart.
Now, will they pull the trigger? Stay tuned.
