The Edmonton Oilers have unveiled their lineup for their first game of the National Hockey League's preseason and it is very much a preseason lineup.

Many of the Oilers top stars including the likes of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl will not be in action this evening when the team takes on the Winnipeg Jets. Additionally there will be players, like Oilers forward Evander Kane, who have been sidelined as a result of injuries that they are currently dealing with.

That is of course to be expected in Kane's case as it was revealed earlier today that he will be out for quite some time.

First let's take a look at the forwards that will hit the ice tonight:

#92 Podkolzin / #52 Hamblin / #22 Savoie
#62 Lavoie / #72 O'Reilly / #8 Caggiula
#68 Hoffman / #48 Philp / #70 Stefan
#38 Wright / #42 Grubbe / #56 Nicholl

And here's a look at the 6 defenseman that will be featured in tonight's preseason game.

#24 Dermott / #49 Emberson
#6 Gleason / #44 Brown
#85 Dineen / #58 Carrick

And last but not least your two goaltenders for this evening:

#35 Rodrigue
#60 Delia

While fans who were hoping to see some bigger names may be disappointed, the goal here is likely to give head coach Kris Knoblauch a better look at some fringe players and how they perform in as close to an NHL game as the Oilers are going to get before the official start of the season.

Tonight's game could very well have a big impact on the future of several of the players who will be featured this evening.
