Oilers make a change in goal for first time in 7 games.
The Edmonton Oilers are giving number one goaltender Stuart Skinner a break on Sunday afternoon.
The Edmonton Oilers are giving Stuart Skinner a little rest.
After appearing in 7 straight games for the Oilers, Skinner will get a rest on Sunday as the Oilers will give Calvin Pickard just his third outing since he was called up in November. The Oilers own Bob Stauffer confirmed that Pickard would be getting the start today.
Pickard has appeared in 2 games for the Oilers this season, recording a 2.94 goals against average and a .891 save percentagem a far cry from the excellent numbers he was recording in the American Hockey League with the Bakersfield Condors. That has however been over a very limited sample size and with Pickard coming in relatively cold after long stretches without playing.
The veteran of 118 NHL games will get his chance to improve on those numbers this evening.
