So much chatter has emerged on what’s next for Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane after reports revealed how upset he was that the New York Rangers chose to acquire Vladimir Tarasenko earlier this month instead of trading for him.
However, Hawks general manager Kyle Davidson provided the latest update on the trade situation last night when he n appeared on NBC Sports Chicago before Tuesday night’s game against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Despite being less than two weeks away from the trade deadline, Davidson stated that the Blackhawks and Kane haven’t yet discussed specific teams he would be interested in for a trade.

“We have had conversations over the last little while,” Davidson said on NBC Sports Chicago. “We’ve stayed in pretty constant contact with both Pat [Brisson] and Patrick [Kane].

“We haven’t gotten to the point that we’re talking teams or anything that specific. I think we’re still getting to the point where we want to figure out what the decision is for the deadline; whether he wants to explore something new or stick around. We haven’t gotten to specifics. We’re just not there yet.”

Besides Tarasenko being moved to NYC, another significant trade took place last week when the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Ryan O’Reilly from the St. Louis Blues. The market has not surprised Davidson, who doesn’t believe the trades have or will hinder Kane’s ability to seek a team.

“His timeline is our timeline and we share in that no rush or need to push anything along for our purposes,” Davidson said. “I think when a decision is reached we’ll deal with it then. Doesn’t change anything on our end.”

The GM maintains that he has constant communication with Kane and that each side has worked in collaboration to respect Kane’s and the team’s desires.

Still… the clock is ticking…
