NHL sends serious warning to Bruins and Panthers hours before Game 3!

Game 2 of the second round series between the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins combined 148 penalty minutes, including 12 misconduct penalties and the National Hockey League does not want to see this happen again.

According to insider Darren Dreger of TSN, the NHL has sent a warning to both the Bruins and Panthers ahead of Game 3, letting them know that the series “will be heavily scrutinized moving forward.”

“Game 3 tonight between Florida and Boston. Game 2 certainly had a nasty tone to it amplified by the Pastrnak/Tkachuk scrap. Both clubs have been told by the NHL this series will be heavily scrutinized moving forward.”

This comes hours before puck drop at the TD Garden in Boston and also just hours following comments made by both Panthers’ Matthew Tkachuk and Bruins’ Pat Maroon.

Tkachuk fought star forward David Pastrnak in the third frame of Game 2, with Tkachuk landing a couple of right-hand blows before Pastrnak fell to the ice in a 6-1 win for Florida.

Tkachuk had some surprising words for Pastrnak ahead of the game, giving the Bruins’ star his flowers, which then led to Maroon sending a different message to Tkachuk. Maroon claimed that Tkachuk fought “dirty” during his much discussed brawl with Pasta, adding that the Panthers’ superstar broke a fighting code by delivering a few punches to Pastrnak after the Bruins winger had fallen to the ice.

“Obviously I don’t like how he hit him on the ground twice. I think that’s dirty,” said Maroon. “It’s the game within the game, but I don’t like the aftermath of it.”

He then looked to almost taunt Tkachuk by saying that the Florida player will not fight him.

“Tkachuk’s not going to fight me."

The NHL felt the need to send this serious message to both the Bruins and Panthers, and while it could have an impact of the remainder of this series, I still feel like both teams won’t back down to come out on top.
