NHL insider responds to rumored trade request from Dylan Larkin.

An NHL insider is addressing a blockbuster rumor involving Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin.

A truly blockbuster trade rumor has been making the rounds today but I have not touched it because there was a distinct lack of credibility behind the rumor and now one of the National Hockey League's top insiders is speaking out.

The rumor, which claims that Detroit Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin has demanded a trade, appears to have originated from an account on social media platform X that goes by "Sash Sharnaz." The account claimed that NHL insider Chris Johnston had corroborated the rumor and that he would be on TSN 1200 radio on Monday to discuss the matter in question.

You can see the original tweet below:

Johnston however has now spoken out and completely denied the validity of this claim, indicating that not only is the report false, but that he has never spoken to the person spreading the rumor on social media in any context whatsoever.

"This is patently, 100% false and fabricated," wrote Johnston on Sunday. "I've never spoken with this person or reported anything of this nature."

The Red Wings are of course having another bad start to the season with just 10 wins over the course of their first 27 games of the regular season and are currently on a 5 game losing streak, one that has placed them just barely ahead of the Montreal Canadiens who are currently the last placed team in the Atlantic Division.

Given the circumstances you can see why a rumor of this nature would quickly spread across social media, but based on Johnston's comments today there does not appear to be any truth to the claim that Larkin, the captain of the Detroit Red Wings, has requested a trade at this time.

Should any credible sources report such a trade request you can be sure that I will bring you any and all relevant updates on the matter.
