While the NHL did not call Montreal Canadiens’ Brendan Gallagher in for a hearing after he sucker punched New York Rangers forward Barclay Goodrow in the last moment of last night’s game, the league still disciplined him.
It has just announced that Gallagher was fined $2,500, for Roughing Goodrow.
This is how the incident took place, which led to this fine.
At the end of the third period of 3-2 victory by the Rangers, Goodrow got under Gallagher’ skin. The Habs’ forward sucker punched his rival, who embellished the shot to make sure the Canadiens would be penalized. Gallagher was sent to the box for misconduct as Goodrow peaked through his glove to make sure he sold the part.
