The New York Rangers are in the midst of a four game losing skid, the longest that they've suffered through since general manager Chris Drury and head coach Gerard Gallant took over. And while it certainly isn't the appropriate time to start sounding the alarm bells, the recent on-ice displays put forth by the Rangers aren't indicative of a squad with reasonable championship aspirations.
And as they look to break out of their current funk, they'll have to do so for the foreseeable future without a valuable member of their bottom six depth. Center Filip Chytil, who was injured earlier this week after taking a questionable hit from Columbus forward Cole Sillinger, will not be joining the Rangers on their upcoming road trip.
According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, Chytil departed practice early today, and has been confirmed to be staying behind as New York travels down south to Dallas and later to Arizona.
Chytil has skated in six games so far this season, scoring two goals with one assist. In his absence, forward Barclay Goodrow has skated on the third line alongside Jimmy Vesey and Vitali Kravtsov.
Tomorrow's game against the Dallas Stars is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM EST.
