New trade plan emerges for the Oilers and gets intense feedback!

This is a very controversial option in Edmonton.

While some fans and reporters believe the Edmonton Oilers should not wait any assets on attempt to ugrade the goaltending situation, one insider has made a suggestion that could very well make sense for general manager Ken Holland.

The Oilers have recently been winning and outscoring their opponents by quite a lot, but Frank Seravalli of Daily Face-Off still believes Edmonton should target one specific goalie heading into trade deadline season in Detroit Red Wings’s James Reimer. This is how Seravalli explained it on Oilersnation Everyday podcast.

As soon as the podcast went up and fans saw it on social media, many reactions emerged to the suggested fans with some wanting to see GM Holland pull the trigger while others hated the idea that the Oilers could choose a veteran like Reimer over a hard-working backup like Calvin Pickard.

Here are some feedback that were posted to argue with the proposed trade with the Red Wings:

I have to say that I don’t see Reimer as an improvement on what the Oilers have gotten out of Pickard. Pickard has a 2.82 GAA with a .904 SV%, which is much better than what Reimer has managed to put up in Detroit: 3.41 GAA and a .889 SV%.

While I understand that Reimer is a veteran that holds playoff experience, I don’t think he is what Edmonton needs. The Oilers have a very similar roster to last year’s intense Stanley Cup run and I don’t think the dressing room lacks experience there.

I would much rather have a strong duo in net, like we’ve been seeing lately in Skinner and Pickard, then change it around to bring in someone like Reimer who may not even improve the situation in Edmonton.

What do you say?
