New Flyers’ coach pulls move on D-man Cam York that has everyone confused
What is going on here?! Full story in the link down below:
Young Phildelaphia Flyers defenseman Cam York has dealt with benching under head coach John Tortorella. If you thought things were going to be different on Thursday night against the Montreal Canadiens after the Flyers fired Torts, well, think again.
They might have gotten worse…
During the first period, interim head coach Brad Shaw left York on the bench. The blue liner, who was slated as the sixth man on the back end, did not see a single minute of ice time in the first frame.
Immediately, fans knew something was up.
I bet fans were thinking that, with Torts out of Philly, York would get a chance.
This past Tuesday night, the Flyers got doors blown off them, losing 7-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Unfortunately, York only played 3:50 of that game, as he was benched following a goal that made the score 1-1 at the time.
York is playing for a contract next season, as he becomes a restricted free agent this summer. Some fans are starting to wonder if he could be dealing with an injury.
York, who is supposed to be a minutes eating defenseman, is not eating much lately…
In the second period, the benching continued as York was even seen without a stick on the bench, basically getting dressed tonight against the Canadiens to keep it warm.
We will keep you posted on when or if York sees some ice tonight.
