There is a growing sense that veteran forward Patrick Kane will be on the move ahead of the trade deadline. The Chicago Blackhawks superstar has been linked to several contenders, with the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres leading the trade chatter.
However, on Tuesday night’s Insider Trading on TSN, Pierre LeBrun revealed how another contender has entered the Kane sweepstakes.
“Kane has the hammer here with a full no-movement [clause] but the idea is that at some point all the losing this year, with Chicago projecting to be a losing team, will probably grow tiring for him and he’ll be ready to talk trade. Again, [he has a] full no-movement [clause] but a couple of teams to think about off the top are the New York Rangers and New York Islanders as decent possibilities.”
Will GM Lou Lamoriello finally be up to something ahead of the trade deadline??? The summer was tough on the Islanders. The team was linked to Johnny Gaudreau and Nazem Kadri in this summer’s free-agent market, but failed to get them to come to New York… Fans have been blaming Lamoriello for his lack of actions on the free agent market and also his failed attempt to acquire J.T. Miller from the Vancouver Canucks, which he reportedly attempted to do during the draft in Montreal back in July.
Maybe now the focus is on Kane in Chicago… With Lamoriello, we can never tell, but LeBrun believes the Islanders could be a likely destination for Kane.
