Is this where Tanev will end up after March 8?

The defense corps has been a hot market heading into the 2024 trade deadline and Calgary Flames’ Chris Tanev may be the most coveted of them all. According to Darren Dreger, several contenders are taking a closer look at the Flames’ blue liner with a new team entering the sweepstakes with just over two weeks to go prior to the March 8 deadline. This is what Dreger revealed in last night’s edition of Insider Trading on TSN:
“We know that defenseman are always a hot commodity. The Dallas Stars seem to be relatively quiet but this is a team that we’re gonna have to keep an eye on because without question they are going to add. They lead the Central Division, they’re in a to win a Stanley Cup and they feel like they’re pretty close. They’d like to add an experienced right-shot defenseman - a lot of teams would like to add that so they’re looking at some of the usual suspects. Chris Tanev checks a lot of boxes because the Stars would also like to add a key penalty killer and we know that Tanev can provide that.”
Several teams have been linked to Tanev in the past, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils. Interested teams have however been warned by Flames general manager Craig Conroy that a first-round pick is the price for Tanev.
However, it sounds like many insiders believe the Stars would be the perfect fit for Tanev. Harman Dayal and Max Bultman of the Athletic explained how it would be a match made in heaven if Dallas pulls the trigger, suggesting the Stars sent a 2024 second-round pick, Ty Dellandrea and a 2026 fourth-round pick in return for Tanev with 50 percent retained by the Flames.
“Adding Tanev would give Pete DeBoer fascinating defense options. DeBoer could shift Miro Heiskanen to his natural left side and Tanev would be a seamless top-pair fit — he knows how to complement an elite defenseman from his time playing with Quinn Hughes in Vancouver. Alternatively, the Stars could keep their uber-dynamic pair of Heiskanen and Thomas Harley together, in which case Tanev would significantly bolster the bottom four.”
Are we going to see Tanev in a Stars’ uniform in the near future?
